Le Vent du Nord

If you’ve seen them before, you already know. And if you’ve never seen them, words won’t do them justice. Suffice it to say that Le Vent du Nord is one of the best bands touring today, no matter your musical taste. These four fantastically talented musicians play stomping traditional French-Canadian music with a cohesive playing style, a powerful groove, an almost rock attitude, clarity of voice, and accuracy of instruments. Every performance captures the energy and mirth of a Saturday night kitchen party, infusing old Québec with a breath of fresh, cosmopolitan air.

Since its founding in 2002, Le Vent du Nord have become compelling Francophone ambassadors, winning critical acclaim and audience adoration across Europe, Oceania and America. The quartet has performed thousands of concerts, racking up several prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros (France), two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Canadian Folk Music Award, and ‘Artist of the Year’ at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala (USA).

This multiple-award winning foursome effortlessly tackle instruments ranging from mandolin, diatonic accordion, acoustic guitars and bass, and mouthharp, to fiddle, a hurdy gurdy, even an Irish Bouzouki…while all handle vocal duties. When it all comes together, it’s magic, and we are so happy and honored to be welcoming them back to The Nelson Odeon stage.
