The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra

It's hard to describe music in the age of cross pollination; where do you begin with the definitions when one minute a song starts in a tango, builds up with African Rythms, hooks you with some gypsy-roots-grass riffs, and pours out psychedelic waves of sound walls to a crisp finish. Not to sound too much like a bottle of wine, but The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra are ageing well. Early tours had them playing pop up shows across Europe, hitting the streets and festivals across Canada and the US, and carefully cultivating a solid reputation as dedicated, talented and ambitious young musicians. The past two years has seen the band headlining festivals and stages across Canada and the Pacific NorthWest.

This year the band is excited to offer up new music from their Nashville Recordings EP which is just a taste of their upcoming release in October, recorded with award winning producer David Travers-Smith.

So call it folk. Call it fusion. Call it gypsy-roots-folk-tango-afro-psychadelic-soul-music. Or forget about the definitions and just enjoy one hell of a good show.

"Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra - clever name, very clever artists! They lead you down a musical pathway filled with unpredictable twists and delightful turns - you are never quite certain where they are taking you - but what is absolutely predictable is the creativity, musicianship and passion they bring every time they step on stage. Our very discerning audience were completely swept away by their performance - and responded with not one, but two standing ovations!  Catch them while you can - these guys are going places!" -Suze Casey, Artistic Director, Calgary Folk Club
