Mia Dyson with special guests Kim and Chris
Mia Dyson’s particular blend of blues, rock, and a touch of country has been captivating audiences since her 2003 debut Cold Water. Her disarmingly rich vocals matched with her ability to play some serious guitar has garnered her praise from critics and audiences around the globe. Her fourth album, The Moment, sees her on fine form, taking the best elements of straight-up rock ‘n’ roll, blues, and Americana, and sending them forth with her husky, whisky-throated vocals and gut-wrenching honesty.
In 2009 Dyson left Australia for the States to absorb the culture and tradition of her music, opting to tour small venues under her own steam (and as a complete unknown) and put in the hard yards like many a troubadour before her. In that time, she went broke, lost her band, and her management attempted to change her name and sell her to reality TV. It’s in this frame of reference that The Moment was born.
Her songs are full of stories about strength and carrying on despite the setbacks you might encounter - something Mia knows a fair bit about. She is an extremely passionate performer and puts everything into her music; it was good enough for Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, and Eric Clapton to take her on tour, which ain’t no small things. Come and find out for yourself how amazing she and her band are.
Opening for Mia will be Kim Monroe and Chris Eves. Although their material typically starts out in a folk vein, it usually progresses into the soul/ blues territory that best showcases Monroe's stirring vocals and Eves's masterful guitar playing. Kim is the winner of two Sammy awards and is a favorite around Central New York.
